This reminds me of when I first heard Heads for the Dead's debut album. It's not trying to do anything new, yet it still manages to pull it all together with what feels like fresh, lively energy. At times it also reminds me of Cannibal Corpse, even Bloodbath. Mostly it reminds me of pure, purposeful and powerful death metal. I detect no filler here, with every song truly entertaining in its own fashion. I'll be surprised if this doesn't end up being my favorite death metal album of this year.
